One of Zion National Park’s most dangerous trails is closed for repairs.
Since Wednesday, and until Friday, Angels Landing trail has been off-limits, according to an alert by the National Park Service.
“One of the posts is broken, and it’s in a key location,” said Zion National Park Superintendent Jeff Bradybaugh at a Springdale Town Council Meeting on Wednesday evening.
Bradybaugh said that the trail crew was set to fix the issue on Thursday morning.
The trail is in the nation’s second-most visited national park, which is just over a two-hour drive from Las Vegas, and hosts roughly 800 hikers daily.
A recent study found that at least 17 hikers have died on the trail as of 2024.
In April, a man fell to his death while climbing the 5.4-mile round-trip, 1,500-feet-elevated hike.
In 2022, the National Park Service implemented a hiker permit system for the trail.
