Two off-Strip casinos are among the luckiest in the country, according to a new report.

South Point Hotel Casino & Spa ranked third and Palms Casino Resort finished 10th in a Casinos.com study that analyzed more than 830,000 TripAdvisor reviews from 108 casino resorts across the United States.

The rankings were based on how frequently reviewers used 20 luck- and reward-related terms, including “lucky,” “jackpot,” “winning,” “big win” and “hand pay.” Casinos.com then applied a Bayesian adjustment to account for differences in review volume among properties.

South Point, which has long marketed itself as offering some of the best gambling odds in Las Vegas, scored 318.64 luck mentions per 1,000 reviews. The property generated 6,562 TripAdvisor reviews included in the study, with 35.74 percent containing at least one of the selected keywords.

Only Seminole Hard Rock Hotel & Casino Tampa and Parx Casino in Pennsylvania ranked higher.

Palms posted a score of 279.27 luck mentions per 1,000 reviews. More than 32 percent of the resort’s 4,548 reviews included one of the luck-related terms.

The report noted that South Point’s large volume of reviews helped boost its standing after the statistical adjustment was applied. According to Casinos.com, the property moved from 30th place in the raw data to third overall once review counts were factored into the rankings.

The study also highlighted Palms’ ownership by the Yuhaaviatam of San Manuel Nation, which also owns Yaamava’ Resort & Casino in Southern California, which came in seventh place on the top 10 list.

No Las Vegas Strip resort made the top 10. In fact, the report found that five Strip resorts — Caesars Palace, Mandalay Bay, Excalibur, Bellagio and Luxor — rounded out the bottom of the list.

Casinos.com cautioned that the rankings do not measure actual payout percentages or the likelihood of winning. Instead, they reflect how often visitors referenced luck, winning and related terms when writing online reviews. The company said the rankings are intended for entertainment purposes only and do not constitute gambling advice.

The data was collected in April.
