Longtime Nevadan Todd Cutler, a superintendent with the Lake Tahoe Unified School District, has been named the new executive director of the Nevada Interscholastic Activities Association.
The NIAA Board of Control on Wednesday voted by a 7-5 decision for Cutler to lead the association at the fall board meetings held at Bishop Gorman. Cutler is expected to take over from outgoing Timothy Jackson on Nov. 1, pending final agreement through the negotiation process.
“I’m absolutely humbled by it and I’m extremely excited,” Cutler said. “This is somewhat of a dream come true. In my career, I’ve done a lot. I’ve been a coach, a school administrator, a superintendent, a mayor (of Fernley), but it seems like all of my experience got me ready to lead this organization that means a lot to me.”
Jackson resigned after two years as executive director in August. Cutler was one of three candidates who interviewed in front of the Board of Control on Wednesday, along with NIAA assistant director Cate Sgroi and Pershing County School District Superintendent and NIAA board liaison Dennis Holmes.
