Once again, Victor Joecks attempts to justify arming everyone by implying that the only way to stop a “bad guy” with a gun is a “good guy”with a gun, like the Wild West (Wednesday Review-Journal column).
The problem is that most deaths by guns are not caused by a gunman shooting random strangers at the mall. There are 45,000 deaths by firearms in the United States each year. Many of these “good guys” lost their temper after a few drinks and had easy access to a gun.
The solution, in my opinion, is not to arm everyone, but to make it more difficult for unstable people to own them.
