LETTER: Political violence from one side is the problem

Richard Leman’s recent letter to the editor begged my response. He states that it is “long past time for politicians across the political spectrum to condemn violence.” The violence is committed primarily from the left, and has been repeatedly condemned loudly and clearly by conservative politicians. If Democratic leaders condemned violence, perhaps there would not have been three assassination attempts on President Donald Trump, and Charlie Kirk would still be alive.

The violent rhetoric from Democratic political leaders Gavin Newsom, JB Pritzker and Tim Walz is appalling. Democrats such as Maxine Waters and Chuck Schumer have openly encouraged violence against conservatives. I have yet to hear a Republican politician call on their constituents to commit violent acts in the name of democracy.

The rhetoric is born of an affliction called Trump Derangement Syndrome. Lies and rumors have powered the TDS train, which is inhabited by the Left and the legacy media.

Two people were killed in Minnesota by ICE agents because they put themselves in harm’s way by impeding law enforcement They did not deserve to die. Yet their own actions led to their fate.

Illegal aliens are criminals by nature of their act of coming across our border illegally. Immigrants are people from other nations who go through the proper procedures to stay here.

There was nary a peep when President Barack Obama arrested and deported 3 million illegal aliens, currently more than the Trump administration.

In regard to what the Trump administration is “doing” to freedom of speech, the mere fact that we can express our opinions and are free to gather and protest are in fact examples of free speech at its best.

Let’s stop pretending that violent rhetoric is a problem of both political parties when we all know it’s mainly from the left.
