A man died after a multi-vehicle crash near the Strip on Wednesday night. One of the drivers involved in the crash was arrested on “suspicion of DUI,” police said.

The crash happened at 6:09 p.m. at the intersection of East Desert Inn Road and Paradise Road, just east of the Strip.

In a statement from the Metropolitan Police Department, a burgundy 2017 Honda Accord was stopped at the red traffic signal, facing westbound on East Desert Inn at Paradise. A white 2007 Hyundai Sonata was traveling westbound on East Desert Inn approaching the Honda. The Hyundai struck the rear of the Honda. The Hyundai then drove around the Honda and accelerated westbound through the intersection.

A white 2022 Honda Civic was stopped southbound on Paradise. As the Honda Accord entered the intersection, the front of the Hyundai collided with the driver’s side of the Honda Civic, police said.

The drivers of the Hyundai and the Civic were taken to Sunrise Hospital. The driver of the Civic, an unidentified 28-year-old male from Las Vegas, later died.

The driver of the Hyundai “exhibited signs of impairment and was arrested on suspicion of DUI,” police said. He was identified by police as Daylon Bernstine, 60, of Las Vegas.

The crash marks the 73rd traffic-related fatality in the department’s jurisdiction this year.
