In honor of veteran and Metropolitan Police Department officer Austin Abdelnabi, who was killed in the line of duty on August 4, Governor Joe Lombardo ordered flags to be lowered to half-staff Friday, according to the governor’s office.
Abdelnabi’s funeral is also planned for Friday.
“Officer Abdelnabi made the ultimate sacrifice in service to his country and his community, and Nevada will never forget his courage,” Gov. Lombardo said in a statement. “He dedicated his life to protecting others, and his loss is felt deeply by all of us. We will continue to honor his memory, stand with his family and loved ones, and support the brothers and sisters in law enforcement who served alongside him.”
Nevada State Capitol, all state public buildings and grounds are part of the flag order that will be in place from sunrise to sunset on Friday.
