The Bishop Gorman football team’s Aug. 29 game against Columbus (Florida) will be broadcast nationally on ESPN, the network announced Thursday.
The game is a part of the Broward County national football showcase at St. Thomas Aquinas High School in Fort Lauderdale, Florida. Kickoff time is scheduled for 11 a.m. PT.
Gorman is ranked No. 3 nationally in ESPN’s Top 25 preseason rankings. Buford (Georgia) is No. 1 and St. John Bosco (California) is No. 2.
St. John Bosco and Gorman are ranked No. 1 and 2, respectively, by MaxPreps and will play each other at 7 p.m. Aug. 21 at Gorman. The game will be broadcast on MaxPreps’ YouTube channel.
The Gaels open the season hosting Losee in a 5A league game at 7 p.m. Aug. 14. Their remaining nonleague schedule includes games at Lone Peak (Utah) on Sept. 4 and at Mater Dei (California) on Sept. 18. Mater Dei is ranked No. 8 by ESPN.
Columbus is the alma mater of Las Vegas Raiders rookie quarterback Fernando Mendoza.
