A person was found dead inside a burning home Wednesday night in the northwest Las Vegas Valley.
Crews were called at 7:10 p.m. to the one-story residence in the 7000 block of Majestic Bay Street, near Farm Road and North Decatur Boulevard, according to a Las Vegas Fire & Rescue release Thursday.
Metropolitan Police Department officers, in the area on an unrelated call, began evacuating neighboring residences as firefighters responded, the release said. The first unit found the residence fully engulfed in flames. Crews began operations to contain and extinguish the fire.
After the fire was brought under control, crews conducted primary and secondary searches of the residence. During the search process, crews found the body of an adult inside the residence.
Two Metro officers were evaluated at the scene for smoke inhalation and did not require transportation to a medical facility.
The cause of the fire remains under investigation. There is $150,000 in estimated damages to the home.
The North Las Vegas Fire Department also assisted in the operation.
