Casino Center Boulevard south of the Charleston Boulevard intersection will be closed to traffic for three weeks as part of work tied to an ongoing $49 million storm drain installation project.
The closure of the intersection of Charleston and Casino Center is needed to allow crews to install underground box culverts, the city of Las Vegas announced on Wednesday.
Starting on July 13 and running through July 19, work at the intersection will occur 24/7. Then during the following two weeks, the work will occur between 7 a.m. and 6 p.m., daily.
During the work, Charleston will remain open to traffic with one lane in each direction.
Oakey Boulevard and Bonneville Avenue are recommended detour routes for east/west travel and Main Street and Las Vegas Boulevard for north/south travel. Access for residents and businesses in the closure area will be maintained during construction.
Once the work at Casino Center is completed, the project will move west with future intersection closures planned for Main Street and Commerce Street. To limit traffic impacts, only one major intersection on Charleston will be closed at a time, according to the city.
The project began in August and is slated for completion during the third quarter of 2027.
