A suspended Metropolitan Police Department officer admitted on Wednesday to strangling his girlfriend last year.
Chandler Pike, 30, was arrested in November after police said he strangled and slapped his live-in girlfriend, also a Metro officer, and put a gun to his head in front of her.
Pike pleaded guilty to a felony count of battery by strangulation and a gross misdemeanor count of aiming a firearm at a person.
According to plea terms read in court by District Judge Jacqueline Bluth, Pike and prosecutors have agreed to probation and Pike agreed to termination from Metro.
If he successfully completes the terms of his sentence, he may withdraw his plea to the felony count, which will be dismissed, and the gross misdemeanor will stand, said the judge.
An arrest report said Pike “did not like” that his girlfriend would be home late after working a hectic Thanksgiving shift.
The victim reported that she was strangled and slapped. Police noted in a report that her ears were bleeding. She told them that he squeezed her neck so hard that she briefly lost consciousness.
Pike’s girlfriend told police that he did not point a gun at her, but as part of his plea, he admitted that he did.
He was hired by Metro in 2020 and assigned to the Enterprise Area Command’s Community Safety Division. A spokesperson said Wednesday that he is on suspension of police without pay.
His sentencing is scheduled for Sept. 30.
