A Las Vegas corrections officer was masturbating near children in a parking lot, prosecutors said in court Friday.

Quincy Brown, 34, was arrested Thursday on suspicion of lewdness in the presence of a child and soliciting prostitution.

He has worked for the Metropolitan Police Department, which runs the Clark County Detention Center, since 2017, according to police.

Metro said he would be suspended without pay pending investigation. Brown remained in jail custody as of Friday morning.

Court records show that Brown has had three cases filed against him in Las Vegas Justice Court this month. He was on bail in two lewdness cases at the time of his latest arrest. In one of those cases, he also faces a misdemeanor stalking charge.

Brown is being held without bail and Chief Deputy District Attorney Jessica Walsh said she wanted him to continue to be detained.

“He was out of custody on that other case when he then went and did this new event at the end of April, where he was masturbating in a car in front of children in a very public parking lot” near an elementary school, she alleged.

“He even indicated on the video that he knew the kids were walking by but never stopped masturbating,” she added.

Hearing Master Daniel Westmeyer did not hold formal bail arguments Friday because Warren Geller, a private attorney for Brown, was not present in court.

Public defender Josie Bayudan asked for Brown’s initial appearance hearing to be continued. Walsh objected to that request, but Westmeyer agreed to delay the hearing until Saturday and said Brown would be held without bail until then.

Brown appeared in initial appearance court under unusual circumstances. He was brought from the glassed in area where inmates are usually kept for initial hearings into the courtroom and other inmates were led out.

Geller did not immediately respond to requests for comment.
