Overnight work tied to the $49.5 million 215 Beltway Airport Connector Interchange project will lead to traffic delays and detours this week.
The 215 westbound off-ramp to the northbound Airport Connector will close to traffic from 9 p.m. Wednesday to 5 a.m. Thursday, with traffic reduced to one lane on the northbound Airport Connector during work hours, Clark County announced Tuesday.
There are also two planned temporary traffic stops between midnight and 3 a.m. Thursday, with each expected to last 20 minutes. The dual temporary closures are needed to remove a pair of large sign structures above the Airport Connector roadway.
The suggested detour for motorists trying to avoid the work is to take the 215 westbound to the Las Vegas Boulevard exit and head south to access the Airport Connector eastbound.
The interchange project will widen the northbound Airport Connector from three lanes to four between the 215 westbound on-ramp to the Sunset Road exit.
The Sunset Road off-ramp will also be expanded from one lane to two lanes to provide additional capacity on the ramp at the intersection of the Sunset and Paradise roads.
A new ramp from 215 eastbound will link the Airport Connector to a dedicated lane being built to handle traffic exiting at Sunset. The ramp includes a bridge over the 215 westbound on-ramp to the Airport Connector.
The on-ramp from the 215 westbound to the Airport Connector northbound will be realigned under the new bridge from the 215 eastbound ramp to the Airport Connector northbound, which will join the two lanes that will allow motorists to exit to Sunset.
George Crockett Road to the northbound Airport Connector on-ramp is also being realigned to increase the weave distance between the on-ramp and the new ramp from 215 eastbound.
