Traveling to the Electric Daisy Carnival this weekend? It’s going to get windy. Dangerously windy.

A high wind warning has been issued for Southern Nevada, starting at 2 p.m. Sunday to 5 a.m. Monday, the National Weather Service said.

Expect southwest winds, shifting to the northwest, between 25 and 35 mph. Gusts will be between 50 and 60 mph. A few gusts to 70 mph are possible in “wind prone locations,” the agency said.

In a statement, the NWS said “damaging winds will blow down trees and power lines. Widespread power outages are expected. Travel will be difficult, especially for high-profile vehicles.”

Sam Meltzer of the NWS said a cold front will arrive Sunday, with the strongest winds moving through the valley during the late afternoon and evening.

“It’s a pretty strong front,” he said. Sunday’s forecast high is 90 degrees but the high will only reach 78 on Monday, about 10 degrees below normal.

For Saturday night, expect winds from the west at 10 to 15 mph, with gusts up to 20-25 mph, Meltzer said.

The winds could create problems for the EDC, possibly Saturday and likely Sunday. The popular music festival is being held at Las Vegas Motor Speedway.

Past EDC wind events

2025: Strong winds closed multiple stages on Saturday night. The BionicJungle stage closed around 9 p.m.

2019: High winds led to the closure of some stages. Superstar DJ Kaskade was one of a handful of performers who had their sets canceled on Saturday night as a precautionary measure due to high winds, which shuttered the main Kinetic Field early.

2012: Blustery winds forced the festival to shut down early on Saturday night, including Kinetic Field.
