
A 68-year-old man was killed in a crash late Wednesday night in the northwest Las Vegas Valley, according to police.
The Metropolitan Police Department said in a news release that the crash occurred at about 9:22 p.m. on North Jones Boulevard south of West Iron Mountain Road.
Authorities said that roadway evidence indicates a 2023 Ford F-150 was traveling northbound on North Jones Boulevard.
According to police, for an unknown reason, the Ford crossed into the southbound travel lanes and drifted into the west curb and onto the sidewalk as the vehicle traveled into the intersection of West Iron Mountain Road.
The Ford then struck a metal light pole and continued north across West Iron Mountain Road.
The vehicle came to rest after striking elevated compacted dirt and a chain link fence at the perimeter of private property, the release said.
The driver of the vehicle, identified by police as a 68-year-old man, was pronounced dead at the scene by medical personnel.
