The Bureau of Land Management has made it easier for pedestrians to access Red Rock Canyon National Conversation Area.
BLM announced the installation of new self-service fee kiosks at the park on Tuesday along with a ride-share drop-off and pick-up area, creating streamlined access for non-motorists. The initiative was made to help increase visitor safety and provide better access for those arriving without personal vehicles. It also helps improve traffic glow and mitigate and congestion near the fee station. Ride-share services will no longer need to wait in line to drop off passengers.
The installation of the kiosks coincides with the Red Rock Legacy Trail project, a five-phase initiative to create a safer byway through the park’s 13-mile scenic loop and trail system for cyclists and pedestrians. Part of the first phase was the relocation of the Red Rock Canyon sign off Charleston Boulevard to a paved parking lot in November, with the rest of Phase 1 expected to be complete by June.
More than 3 million people visit Red Rock Canyon annually.
