
An inmate at a Southern Nevada prison died at a Las Vegas hospital on Saturday, according to a news release from the Nevada Department of Corrections.
Eddie Mushawevans, 46, died at MountainView Hospital on Saturday, the department said in a press release. Department online records also listed various spellings of the inmate’s last name, including Mushaw-Evans.
No cause of death was provided. An autopsy was requested, according to the department.
He was serving a sentence of three to eight years at Southern Desert Correctional Center in Indian Springs for trafficking a controlled substance, according to the department. He began his sentence in June at the Clark County Detention Center and came to Southern Desert in November, state records show.
Southern Desert is located just outside Indian Springs, about 40 miles northwest of Las Vegas.
