A man was killed in a stabbing that occurred in the Arts District early Saturday morning, police said.
The Metropolitan Police Department said it received a report of a stabbing in the parking lot of a business in the 70 block of West Imperial Avenue just before 3 a.m. Several bars in the Arts District are adjacent to the lot where the stabbing occurred.
Arriving officers found a man lying in the parking lot suffering from an apparent stab wound, according to a Metro release. The release said the man was transported to a nearby hospital and later pronounced dead.
Detectives determined that the victim was involved in a “verbal altercation” with another man inside the establishment, resulting in the victim being escorted out of the business, the release said. A second altercation occurred outside, resulting in the stabbing. Metro said the suspect fled the scene before officers arrived.
