The Metropolitan Police Department is asking for the public’s help in identifying a suspect in Monday’s shooting of an off-duty corrections officer in the west Las Vegas Valley.
Still photographs and video released Wednesday show that a male wearing a half-style helmet, dark green jacket, dark pants and a face covering rode a black electric bicycle through a parking lot on the 7600 block of West Cheyenne Avenue, near North Buffalo Drive, before opening fire and striking the off-duty officer.
The Metro officer, who has yet to be identified, was transported to a local hospital and underwent surgery, police said. As of Tuesday afternoon, the injured officer was in stable condition, according to a news release.
