Authorities have identified three people who were shot dead last week in a murder-suicide near UNLV’s campus.
Ibrahim Jihar, 69, and Jimea Mahmoud, 64, both died from multiple gunshot wounds, and their deaths were ruled homicides, the Clark County coroner’s office said Tuesday. Abdelhafiz Abdelgader, 40, died from multiple self-inflicted gunshot wounds.
The Metropolitan Police Department said Wednesday that dispatchers received a 911 call shortly after 10 a.m. from a man who said he had just shot his parents in the 1600 block of East Rochelle Avenue, near East Flamingo Road and South Maryland Parkway.
Metro Lt. Robert Price said while the call was going on, “dispatch heard one more shot, and the line goes silent.”
Police went to the residence and found three people with gunshot wounds. Two died at the scene and a third died after they were transported to Sunrise Hospital and Medical Center, police said.
Police said previously they did not know what motivated the shooting, and there was no indication police had been called to the residence in the past for domestic complaints.
