The Boring Co.’s Vegas Loop system is weeks away from a meaningful expansion, according to Las Vegas’ tourism arm’s chief executive.
The just over 2-mile section of dual tunnels under Paradise Road between Westgate Las Vegas and a planned station at 4744 Paradise Road are set to open in stages over the coming weeks, according to Las Vegas Convention and Visitors Authority president and CEO Steve Hill.
“We really think the first tunnel on Paradise is within weeks of opening,” Hill told the Las Vegas Review-Journal last week. “Hopefully by the end of this month. Almost certainly in October.”

Hill expects both Paradise tunnels to be open ahead of the Formula One Las Vegas Grand Prix, scheduled for Nov. 19-21, which will add another way for fans to get to the race.
“All that’ll be great,” Hill said. “It’s great for the properties that are attached to it. It’s great for the city that just takes some of that traffic off the streets.”
Opening the tunnels will also open new stations at 4744 Paradise Road, at Virgin Hotels Las Vegas and at the site of the former Gordon Biersch brewery and restaurant. Gordon Biersch and Virgin will play roles in the grand prix’s transportation options. Boring Co. owns the 4744 Paradise Road site as well as the Gordon Biersch site, where it plans to add an office in addition to a station.
The Virgin station is situated in a location that can be used by fans attending the race at Grand Prix Plaza and the pit building and surrounding spectator zones, with the Gordon Biersch site, just behind Sphere, will serve the T-Mobile fan zone and the race’s main concert stage.
The 4744 Paradise Road station will initially enhance rides to and from Harry Reid International Airport, as Boring Co. works with the Clark County Department of Aviation to add Vegas Loop stations within the airport’s footprint. Boring Co. already has the ability to incorporate surface streets in Vegas Loop rides for up to 4 miles, as long as each trip includes traveling in a loop tunnel.
4744 Paradise
The 4744 Paradise station is also where water and dirt excavated during Boring Co.’s tunneling operations are sent to be treated and disposed of. Hill anticipates work occurring out of the site well after it is opened as system expansion continues.
The 4744 Paradise site will be the hub for riders heading to the airport. It will also connect to tunnels serving Tropicana Avenue, MGM Grand and Park MGM.
“All of that will happen from 4744 (Paradise), so that’s going to be a very active site for a long time,” Hill said. “But the station part of that is really ready to open so that the connection to the airport’s easy.”
Full build-out
At full build-out, the Vegas Loop is planned to feature at least 68 miles of tunnels, with 123 stations located at most of the resorts on the Las Vegas Strip, into downtown Las Vegas, Chinatown and sites of interest including Allegiant Stadium, the Athletics ballpark and Reid Airport. Clark County approved 19 new stations last month, which included new stations near Reid Airport, UNLV, the Tuscany and one next to Grand Prix Plaza.
There is no time frame when full build-out could be reached. It will be largely determined by when the county approves the various permits needed to expand the system.
The Vegas Loop has stations at Resorts World, Westgate, Encore, Fontainebleau, Sahara and five stations at the Las Vegas Convention Center. There are 14 total stations in operation, with plans for 28 to be open by the end of the year, according to Boring Co.’s website. Seven of the stations planned to open this year are along the Paradise loop section, which includes the three initial stations at 4744 Paradise, Virgin and Gordon Biersch, with stations at the Renaissance Hotel, Hyatt Place, Stirling Club and the Collective expected to open soon, according to the Boring Co.’s website.
Rides between the convention center’s exhibition halls are free during shows, with rides including resorts featuring a fee. Rides are provided using Tesla vehicles in a point-to-point system that allows passengers to bypass stations along the way, allowing an uninterrupted ride to their destination.
