Authorities in Arizona are investigating a boat crash on Lake Havasu that killed two Saturday night.
The Mohave County Sheriff’s Office said deputies were called at 7:08 p.m. to the Cattail Cove State Park in reference to a boat crash. When deputies arrived they found a 2019 36-foot Douglas Marine boat upside down on land, just north of the park.
“Deputies located two victims who were unresponsive near the boat,” the sheriff’s office said on its Facebook page. “Deputies immediately began to perform life saving measures.”
Both individuals died at the scene. The sheriff’s office identified the two as Charles Romer, 65, and Jennifer Luzzi, 59, both of Lake Havasu City.
“The initial investigation shows that the watercraft was traveling at a high rate of speed when it struck a large peninsula, and then became airborne,” the sheriff’s office said. “The boat continued through the air, where it landed in a boat-in campsite north of the initial impact.”
Authorities said they are continuing to investigate the crash.
