Las Vegas Valley residents observed the 25th anniversary of the Sept. 11, 2001, terrorist attacks with several events Friday.
— Palo Verde High School honored Barbara Edwards, a teacher who was aboard one of the airliners hijacked on 9/11.
— The MGM Resorts International’s Veteran Employee Network Group announced that remaining items left outside of New York-New York just after the attacks will be donated to the UNLV Special Collections and Archives.
— Outside of the Las Vegas Fire Department, members of Fire Station Five tolled their bell for fallen firefighters, city officials gathered and spoke at Police Memorial Park and first responders climbed 108 flights of stairs to the top of The Strat to commemorate the lives lost.
