Two former Wynn Las Vegas employees have filed complaints with the National Labor Relations Board against Wynn Resorts Ltd., accusing the company of firing them for supporting labor union activities.

Randall Crank, a former central plant manager at Wynn Las Vegas who worked there for 13 years, and Napco Sharma, a former kitchen shop engineer at the property, filed complaints Aug. 28 with the NLRB’s Phoenix regional office.

A representative of Wynn Resorts said the claims are unsubstantiated and “we are confident that once the facts are reviewed, they will be found to be without merit.”

Crank and Sharma said in their complaints that they were fired in retaliation of their decision to unionize and that the company directed managers to spy on their activity involving the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 501, which represents more than 10,000 workers across Nevada, Arizona and Southern California.

Terminating or conducting surveillance on employees for their support of a union is a violation of the National Labor Relations Act, a federal law that protects workers’ rights to unionize.

The board gave no indication when the complaints would be reviewed.
