A judge on Thursday ordered a sentence of 20 years to life in prison for a man who admitted to killing his girlfriend in 2023.
Chief District Judge Tierra Jones’ sentence followed a plea agreement in which prosecutors and Brandon Tenorio agreed to recommend the amount of prison time he received in exchange for him pleading guilty to first-degree murder.
Tenorio, 42, was arrested shortly after the killing of Kourtney Glover, who was found dead by police in a home on the 3500 block of Mountain Valley Drive, near Fort Apache Road and Gowan Road.
The Metropolitan Police Department previously said she appeared to have suffered blunt force injuries and stab wounds. An arrest report said Tenorio told officers, “I did it. I killed her” as he walked out of the house with blood on his hands and arms.
“They told me I couldn’t cuss and I can’t threaten, so I don’t have much of a speech,” Glover’s father, William Davis, told the judge.
He added: “I hope he does his time and I hope he don’t make it out of there. I’m an eye for an eye person and I don’t believe in this cutting him some slack for killing somebody.”
Ashley Davis, the victim’s sister, said it was not up to Tenorio to decide when Glover’s life was over, but that he did so anyway.
“There is no sentence long enough to restore what he took,” she said.
Tenorio apologized in a brief statement, saying he accepted full responsibility.
“There were significant substance abuse and mental health issues that were not treated at the time,” said Special Public Defender Caitlyn McAmis. “It’s absolutely a tragedy what happened to Ms. Glover.”
