The Las Vegas Raiders offensive coaching staff has a new lineman with whom they are very familiar.
Bryce Cabeldue was claimed off waivers from the Seattle Seahawks on Thursday, immediately taking a place on the 53-man roster. Veteran Atonio Mafi was waived to create a spot.
Cabeldue was a sixth-round pick of the Seahawks last season and spent his rookie year developing under current Raiders coach Klint Kubiak, offensive coordinator Andrew Janocko and offensive line coach Rick Dennison.
The Kansas alum appeared in eight games for the Super Bowl champions last year. He played tackle for the Jayhawks, but was moved inside as a pro.
It is likely the Seahawks had hoped he would clear waivers so he could be signed back to the practice squad, but the Raiders used their prime claiming position to bolster the ranks on the offensive line.
