KB Home has opened its largest new community in Southern Nevada in a decade.
The homebuilder announced Friday that the first phase of its Sandstone development in North Las Vegas is open for sale, with prices starting in the $300,000-range.
Plans call for more than 1,500 homes in Sandstone, as well as parks, trails, basketball and pickleball courts, and other features.
The community, located north of the 215 Beltway-North Fifth Street interchange, spans nearly 300 acres, according to the news release.
Overall, it will feature one- and two-story single-family homes, along with two-story townhouses.
Jim McDade, Las Vegas division president for KB, said in the release that Sandstone “presents an opportunity for attainable homeownership in a highly desirable setting.”
Across Southern Nevada, the median purchase price of a newly built home was around $535,000 in July, according to Las Vegas-based Home Builders Research.
Los Angeles-based KB is a longtime builder in Southern Nevada, and Sandstone marks its largest project locally in the past 10 years, McDade has said.
Property records show that in late 2024, KB acquired more than 200 acres for about $91 million for the community, the Las Vegas Review-Journal previously reported.
All told, Las Vegas homebuilders landed a big jump in month-to-month sales volume in July, but business overall was still far below year-ago levels.
Builders logged 735 net home sales — newly signed sales contracts minus cancellations — in Southern Nevada in July. That was up 28 percent from June but down 7 percent from July 2025, Home Builders Research reported.
The bulk of the market comprises single-family homes, and after a buyer signs a sales contract with a builder, it can take several months before construction of the house is finished and the sale closes.
Overall, builders closed 4,750 home sales this year through July, down 20 percent from the same seven-month stretch last year, and pulled 4,776 permits, down 25 percent, Home Builders Research found.
