A Las Vegas elementary school teacher dragged a special needs student by his shirt three times on campus last week, according to her arrest report.

Marianna Wynn, 63, was arrested Friday at Diaz Elementary School and charged with battery on a protected person, the Clark County School District announced Monday. Wynn, a teacher instructing a Diaz class for students with intellectual disabilities, has been employed by the district since July 2024.

Surveillance video from the school showed Wynn forcibly dragging a boy by the back collar of his shirt just after 11:55 a.m. Friday, school district police said. After dragging that student, police said, Wynn grabbed a second boy by his shirt collar.

School records show the first boy was diagnosed with autism and Down syndrome and is “extremely limited in his ability to communicate and provide for himself,” the report said.

Later, Wynn dragged the special needs student by his shirt again after he went into a classroom, police said. The boy went into another classroom shortly after, and Wynn dragged him by his shirt for a third time, according to the report.

Wynn declined an interview with police, saying she would not speak to officers without her union representative present, the report said.

Wynn has been placed on paid leave per the negotiated agreement with her union, the district has said. Her next court date is scheduled for Sept. 22, online Las Vegas Justice Court records show.
