Alisa Goods, the 63-year-old grandmother from New York City who went missing during a trip to Las Vegas, has been found dead, according to her family.
“For our family, this is a devastating loss,” said the family’s GoFundMe page. “After the uncertainty and anguish of not knowing where she was, we are now faced with the painful reality of saying goodbye and making arrangements to honor her life and memory.”
Goods was last seen Aug 8. at about 1:40 p.m. wearing black Adidas sweatpants and a blue denim jacket near the 4900 block of South Maryland Parkway, according to a missing persons flyer from the Metropolitan Police Department.
Goods traveled to Las Vegas to spend time with a long-time friend, her daughter Kristen Goods said. The grandmother was reported missing Aug. 10.
“We knew when we couldn’t get her on the phone within those two days that something had happened to her, and that she was in imminent danger,” Kristen Goods said.
Her sister Mielle Stone and daughter Kristen Goods said that a member of their family received texts requesting payment for gas in the form of Bitcoin on Aug. 12. The family took this as a worrisome sign that it was not Alisa Goods texting from her phone, as she did not drive, nor did she rent a car while in Vegas.
“Our mother was deeply loved, and her absence leaves a space in our family that can never be filled,” said the family on their GoFundMe Page. “We are doing our best to navigate this loss together and to celebrate the life she lived, the people she loved, and the memories she left with us.”
The family requests financial support for funeral and memorial service expenses, among other costs related to Goods’ passing.
