The Metropolitan Police Department has arrested a man in connection with a fatal stabbing that unfolded late Saturday night in the Las Vegas Valley.
Alex Quintana-Taurez, 36, was booked at the Clark County Detention Center on Thursday on suspicion of murder and fourth-degree arson. Quintana-Taurez was booked under the same police event number linked to the stabbing in the 2400 block of Hinkle Drive, near North Eastern and East Owens avenue, at approximately 11:44 p.m.
Police said a man was found stabbed in a vacant lot and he died at the scene. The Clark County coroner’s office has identified the victim as Zak Williams, 35. Williams died from a stab wound to the chest in what is deemed a homicide.
It was not immediately clear Friday morning why police believe Quintana-Taurez was involved in the crime. He was scheduled to make an initial appearance in Las Vegas Justice Court on Friday morning.
