
Five people were injured, including one who was taken to a hospital by helicopter, in a hit-and-run crash early Friday morning near Jean, according to police.
The Nevada Highway Patrol said in a text message that troopers responded to the wreck at 12:16 a.m. at southbound IR15 at mile marker 7.
According to authorities, the crash involved three sedans. A second crash also occurred at the same location at 12:36 a.m.
Police said the second crash involved a hit-and-run, with a vehicle striking a Clark County Fire and Rescue ambulance, a fire truck and a Chevy Malibu that were at the scene.
The hit-and-run vehicle fled the scene. NHP, Las Vegas police and the California Highway Patrol attempted to locate the vehicle by air and ground. Authorities said the vehicle remains outstanding.
Five people were transported from the second crash, police said. One person was flown by Life Flight, while four others were transported by ground ambulance. NHP did not immediately specify which vehicles the injured people were in.”
A large diesel spill occurred after a fire truck involved in the crash was damaged. All southbound Interstate 15 traffic was diverted onto the Jean/Exit 12 off-ramp while police investigated the crash.
