The Las Vegas Raiders added a veteran to their young wide receiver room on Sunday.
Former Dallas Cowboys, Houston Texans and Washington Commanders wide receiver Noah Brown signed with the team ahead of its trip to Houston for a joint practice and preseason game with the Texans.
Veteran defensive tackle Benito Jones was released to clear a roster spot for Brown.
Brown has 155 catches for 2,083 yards and six touchdowns in eight NFL seasons over 91 games, including 38 starts.
He has been a consistent downfield threat having averaged 13.7 yards per reception, among the top 25 in that category since entering the league for those with a minimum of 125 catches.
Brown, a seventh-round pick of Dallas out of Ohio State in 2017, spent the last two years in Washington. His most memorable moment was as the recipient of the “Hail Maryland” play from Jayden Daniels that lifted the Commanders past Chicago as time expired in October 2024.
He has the potential to make an impact on a wide receiver room that needs more playmakers and depth, especially with second-year pro Dont’e Thornton Jr. battling an injury.
Jones had been battling for reps on the interior of the defensive line and was thought to be in the mix to potentially make the team, but the Raiders added run-stopping veteran Foley Fatukasi this week and he was on the practice field Sunday.
