After a short taste of monsoon season, the Las Vegas Valley will return to scorching temps this week with an extreme heat watch being issued for the area starting Tuesday, according to the National Weather Service.
The heat watch goes from 10 a.m Tuesday until 8 p.m. Friday with high temperatures expected between 107-110 degrees for much of the Mojave Desert region. Death Valley could reach over 115 degrees.
According to teh weather service, the valley may see isolated thunderstorms Sunday afternoon as temperatures steadily make the ascent into “extreme” territory. Sunday’s high is expected to he 100 degrees, followed by a high of 104 on Monday
On Friday, a wave of monsoonal moisture pushed its way through the valley, giving many areas some much-needed rain. Harry Reid International Airport received 0.03 inches of rain, the second day in a row it saw rain.
Parts of Las Vegas also saw rain Wednesday and Thursday, especially in eastern valley neighborhoods.
