The Culinary union’s newest healthcare facility is opening in Las Vegas, marking the last in a chain of clinics around the valley.
Culinary leaders, joined by politicians and others, held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Thursday for the newly built Culinary Health Center at the southwest corner of Tropicana Avenue and Cameron Street, near The Orleans.
The two-story, 98,900-square-foot facility offers primary care, mental-health counseling, dental care, radiology, physical therapy, and a pharmacy.
It is scheduled to start seeing patients on Friday.
The politically powerful Culinary union represents workers at most hotel-casinos on the Strip and downtown. Its members include housekeepers, food and cocktail servers, porters, bellmen, cooks, bartenders and laundry workers.
The union’s pension fund — called the Western Unite Here and Employers Pension Fund — owns the new healthcare property. The Culinary Health Fund, which provides medical benefits and services to union members, is the tenant.
All told, this marks the fourth and final Culinary Health Center in the Las Vegas Valley, the union said.
It provides union members and their families with a clinic close to work.
The facility, which is about 2 miles west of the Strip, is available to union members and their families. It is not open to the general public.
