Two people have been arrested in California in connection with a deadly shooting in June in the east Las Vegas Valley.
April Fontenot, 44, and Jeremiah Fontenot, 19, were picked up by Los Angeles authorities and booked into the Century Regional Detention Facility pending extradition back to Las Vegas, according to a Metropolitan Police Department release.
Police received a report just before 4:20 p.m. June 23 of a person shot at a nearby apartment in the 5300 block of East Craig Road, near Las Vegas Boulevard North. Officers arrived at the complex and tried to save the life of the victim, but he was pronounced dead at the scene. He was later identified by the Clark County coroner’s office as Brandon Gipson, 27.
“The victim was talking with a friend when, suddenly, he was shot at,” Metro Lt. Monique Rodriguez said at the time.
Both suspects will be booked for open murder with a deadly weapon and conspiracy to commit murder, the release said.
