A Las Vegas man who was was struck by a car on his e-bicycle in the central valley succumbed to his injuries and died Tuesday, police say.
According to the Metropolitan Police Department, the 61-year-old man was riding his e-bike eastbound on East Sahara Avenue and entered the intersection with South Burnham Street just after 11:15 p.m. on Aug. 2.
Metro said he “disregarded the red traffic signal” and entered the path of a 2016 Honda CRV. The man was ejected from his e-bike upon the collision and later transported to Sunrise Hospital Trauma Center with life-threatening injuries. The Honda driver remained at the scene and showed no signs of impairment.
The Clark County coroner’s office informed Metro that the man had succumbed to his injuries on Tuesday, marking the 72nd traffic-related fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction.
The collision remains under investigation.
