A 1-year-old Las Vegas pedestrian killed in a crash Sunday night in the central Las Vegas Valley has been identified by the Clark County coroner’s office as Josie Garcia.
A driver known to Josie was moving his Toyota Sequoia and slowly traveling north on Colleen Drive in a residential neighborhood near Interstate 11 and South Jones Boulevard. The girl entered the vehicle’s path without the driver’s knowledge, according to the Metropolitan Police Department.
At 6:42 p.m. the Toyota collided with Josie, knocking her to the ground. She was sent to University Medical Center, where she later died.
The coroner determined the cause of death to be blunt force head trauma. Police said the driver of the Toyota did not show signs of impairment and that he cooperated with the investigation.
The death has been determined to be an accident.
