Fees waived for long-waiting cats during adoption event

Some cats are eager for fresh accommodations. One agency is trying to solve that.

Homeward Bound Cat Adoptions is conducting its Clear the Shelters special adoption promotion this month, the center said in a release.

During the two-week event beginning Wednesday through Aug. 26, adoption fees will be waived for all cats who have been at Homeward Bound for more than three months. In addition, adoption fees for all other adult cats will be 50 percent off.

Kittens, as they are available, are not discounted. Standard adoption policies apply.

“Some cats simply get overlooked,” said Vanessa Porter, Homeward Bound executive director, said in the release. “They watch other cats get adopted while they continue waiting. We want to give those long-waiting cats an extra opportunity to be seen and, hopefully, finally chosen.”

Homeward Bound’s adoption population changes constantly. New kittens and adult cats arrive regularly, while others leave for new homes. That means the cats available during the promotion may change from day to day.

The organization encourages anyone considering adding a cat to their family to visit more than once if they don’t find the right match immediately.

“When one cat goes home, it opens the door for another cat who needs us,” Porter said. “Every adoption creates another opportunity to save a life.”

Homeward Bound Cat Adoptions, 2675 E. Flamingo Road, is open daily from noon to 6 p.m. For additional information, click here.
