
An inmate from Clark County died at a Las Vegas hospital on Tuesday, according to state prison officials.
Derick Butler, was pronounced dead at Centennial Hills Hospital, the Nevada Department of Corrections said in a news release Wednesday. He was 38.
Butler was serving a sentence of 24 to 60 months at High Desert State Prison in Indian Springs for possessing a firearm as an ex-felon. He arrived at the prison on Dec. 20, 2024 from Clark County.
His next-of-kin was notified.
