Mexico is now the top destination for Nevada’s exports — overtaking Canada in a new report.
Mexico came in top spot for Nevada exports in 2025, at $1.67 million or 13.2 percent of the state’s exports, according to data from the National Association of Realtors released June 3. It was followed by Canada at $1.63 million, or 12.9 percent. Switzerland came in third at $1.5 million or 12.5 percent of all exports from the Silver State.
That’s a significant change from 2024, when Mexico ranked fourth for total exports to Mexico at $897,000 or 8.6 percent. Canada was the top export destination for Nevada goods that year, reaching a value of $1.8 million or 17.5 percent of all exports.
The National Association of Realtors report reviewed data from the U.S. Census Bureau and Department of Commerce to analyze each state’s primary trade partners. It found the top ten export destinations accounted for 73.2 percent of all exports in the state. Nevada’s exports represented less than 1 percent of total U.S. exports in 2025.
Overall trade between Nevada and Mexico was approximately $3.3 billion dollars last year, with $1.7 billion of that being Nevada exports to Mexico, and $1.6 billion of that being imports to Nevada from Mexico, according to a 2025 presentation from the Mexican embassy.
Approximately 46,000 jobs in Nevada rely on trade with Mexico, Mexican officials say. Nevada’s fastest growing exports to Mexico are textile furnishings, motor vehicles, fishing, ships and boats.
According to the Mexican embassy, Nevada’s top exports to Mexico fall under four main categories: computer equipment, metal ores, semiconductors and communications equipment. The main categories of imports from Mexico to Nevada are semiconductors, electrical equipment and various manufactured commodities.
Some of the specific products exported from Nevada to Mexico are electric lighting equipment, motor vehicles, apparel and motor vehicle bodies and trailers.
