The Clark County School Board on Wednesday approved Jeff Clark to become the next leader of the Clark County School District Police Department.
Clark, a former Metropolitan Police Department captain, was unanimously approved by the board as part of the Wednesday meeting’s consent agenda.
Clark comes into the role with 21 years of law enforcement experience as an officer, detective, sergeant and Southeast Area Command captain, Superintendent Jhone Ebert said in a press release last week.
She added that Clark, a fourth-generation Las Vegan and Cimarron-Memorial High School graduate, helped create a threat-assessment and response framework for K-12 campuses as part of Metro’s School Violence Initiative.
Clark will earn $225,000 per year in the role, according to his employment agreement.
He succeeds Henry “Mike” Blackeye as chief of school district police. Blackeye announced his retirement in March after serving in the position since 2022. The district previously said it would conduct a national search to find potential candidates for the job.
