Las Vegas native Peyton Prussin, known as “Kendal Grey” among wrestling fans, is having quite the year.
Just two months after performing in a WWE exhibition in her hometown during WrestleMania festivities, Prussin hoisted the NXT Women’s Championship belt by defeating Lola Vice at the “NXT Great American Bash” on Sunday.

Wearing an American-flag themed outfit during Sunday’s match, Prussin paid tribute to WWE legend Kurt Angle, mimicking his walkout performance — an homage the WWE Hall of Famer was delighted by.
Angle wrote on X Tuesday: “Witnessing the rise of the next generation is nothing short of incredible! I couldn’t be prouder to see Kendal Grey rocking my gear and claiming her throne as the new NXT Woman’s Champion! @kendalgreywwe relentless dedication embodies everything we represent in this industry.”
Angle spoke to what has been years in the making for Prussin.
An alumnus of Arbor View High School, Prussin has helped pave a path for female wrestling. She became the first female wrestler to qualify for the boys’ Class 4A state tournament in Nevada and won three NAIA national wrestling titles at Life University (Georgia). Girls wrestling will become an official sanctioned high school sport this upcoming school year as one of the fastest growing sports in the country.
Signing with the WWE in 2024, Prussin, 25, has many matches ahead of her, but Angle did send a word of caution.
“There’s only one Kendal Grey, and I can’t wait to see her conquer new heights. But…… just a heads up, in 8 years, you might want to watch your back, Kendal. There’s another Angle eager to step into that ring, and she’s got her eyes on you,” Angel said, referring to his daughter, who is involved in wrestling.
Just days into her reign, Prussin showed signs of a gracious champion.
“This means so much coming for you,” she replied to Angle. “I’ll be waiting for her!”
