The northbound lanes of Interstate 11 in downtown Las Vegas were shut down Wednesday afternoon due to an officer-involved shooting in the area.
Nevada Highway Patrol spokesman Shawn Haggstrom confirmed the closure unfolded at about 1:37 p.m. in the area of Las Vegas Boulevard due to police activity. He declined to release further details.
The Metropolitan Police Department said they responded to the area for an officer-involved shooting involving the Nevada State Police.
The episode was causing extensive traffic delays. A traffic camera in the area showed police and emergency vehicles on the interstate, with traffic backed up.
