Trustee Irene Bustamante Adams is leading in Tuesday’s primary election for Clark County School Board District F, according to preliminary results.
Bustamante Adams has earned 50.1 percent of the total share cast in the school board race, preliminary results show as of 9:30 p.m. Tuesday.
She is facing two challengers: Clark County School District facility management director Rob Hutchinson and conservative small-business owner Laurence Neely.
Hutchinson had about 32.6 percent of all votes cast as of 9 p.m. Neely had 17.6 percent of all votes cast.
School board trustees serve four-year terms and are one of seven people with voting power on policy and budget decisions in the school district. District F primarily contains the southwest Las Vegas Valley.
Endorsements from unions and education advocates were split among the three candidates.
Bustamante Adams received an endorsement from the Clark County Education Association. Hutchinson is backed by the Nevada State Education Association and Education Support Employees Association.
Neely, meanwhile, received an endorsement from the conservative parental rights group Moms for Liberty in Clark County. Two candidates who had ties to Moms for Liberty earned seats on the school board in 2024.
Other races head to general
Two more school board seats will be determined during the November general election, as both races only had two candidates file to run.
Trustee Brenda Zamora will take on education advocate David Gomez in District D, which contains parts of the east and northeast Las Vegas Valley.
Trustee Linda Cavazos will be up against Paul Casey, an attorney and educator, for the race in District G, which encompasses the southeast Las Vegas Valley and parts of Henderson.
