
Nevada Assemblymember Heidi Kasama is leading the Republican primary race for the open Clark County Commission seat in District F against entrepreneur Albert Mack, according to early returns.
The numbers were current as of 10 p.m., with Kasama getting 54.6 percent of the total vote to Mack’s 45.4 percent.
Their campaigns attacked each other for months with websites and signs accusing the candidates of not being sufficiently conservative.
Seven Democrats are running for the same seat in their party’s primary.
Minja Yan was leading with 35.4 percent of the vote, followed by Minddie Lloyd with 24.4 percent of the vote and Lenna Hovanessian at 17.7 percent of the vote.
The seat attracted a plethora of candidates after Commissioner Justin Jones decided against running for re-election.
The winners will move on to November’s midterms where they will also face Independent candidates Becky Harris and Brian Baron.
Harris is the former chair of the Nevada Gaming Control Board.
Meanwhile, incumbent Commissioners Tick Segerblom and Jim Gibson held comfortable leads in their Democratic contests.
Segerblom is in a two-way primary race for his District E seat. He was ahead of Marco Hernandez 59.5 percent to 40.5 percent. Gibson, meanwhile, led challenger Christian Solomon 59.4 percent to 40.6 percent.
Three Republicans are vying to challenge the winning Democrat in November.
With 56.8 percent of the vote, Manny Kess was ahead against Eduardo “EeeTee” Hamilton and Randolph Rose, who had obtained 14.6 percent and 28.6 percent of the vote, respectively.
Nevada Green Party nominee Clayton “Clay” Simmons will be on the November ballot.
No other candidates filed to run for the seat.
