
Moises “Mo” Denis is leading in his race against incumbent Board of Regent member Patrick Boylan in the District 5 primary race, according to preliminary results.
Denis has received 29.9 percent of votes cast as of 9:45 p.m. Tuesday, preliminary results show.
Candidate Stephanie Molina has 20 percent of votes cast, while Boylan has won 15.7 percent of votes cast, according to preliminary results.
District 5 is primarily located east of downtown in the central Las Vegas Valley and includes part of southern North Las Vegas.
District 2
Regent Jennifer McGrath leads her race to retain her seat on the board, according to preliminary results.
McGrath has received 49 percent of votes cast as of 9:45 p.m. Tuesday, preliminary results show.
Candidates Patrick Villa, Hunter Cain and Dylan Chambers trail her.
District 2 is primarily located west of downtown in the central Las Vegas Valley.
McGrath has held the seat since 2025, when she was appointed following Regent Lois Tarkanian’s death in 2024.
District 8
Regent Pete Goicoechea holds a narrow lead in his race to retain his seat in rural District 8.
Goicochea has earned 37.4 percent of votes cast as of 9:45 p.m. Tuesday.
He is trailed by challengers Lori Lane, Karmen La’Shaun Miller and Kirk Askia Talib-deen.
District 8 is mostly comprised of rural northern Clark County and all of Nye, Lincoln, Esmeralda, White Pine, Eureka and Elko Counties.
District 3
The race for District 3 has automatically advanced to the general election because there are only two candidates: Board Chair Byron Brooks and challenger Erik Swendseid. District 3 covers the central and southern Las Vegas Valley, including UNLV and parts of the Strip.
The Board of Regents oversees Nevada’s four community colleges, three universities and a research institute. The 13-member board sets policies, approves budgets and hires top administrators at these higher education institutions.
