A woman involved in a south valley SUV crash in May has died from her injuries, according to police.
The Metropolitan Police Department said in a release the crash occurred May 9 just after 11:30 a.m. A 62-year-old woman, driving a 2023 Ford Explorer, attempted a left turn at South Maryland Parkway and East Pyle Avenue and was hit by an oncoming 2023 Kia Soul, according to the release.
The woman, along with a 52-year-old passenger and the 20-year-old driver of the Kia, were sent to the hospital for claimed injuries.
“At the time of admission to the hospital, the Ford driver’s injuries did not meet the criteria for the LVMPD Fatal Detail to respond,” the release said.
Metro said the Clark County coroner’s office contacted the department Tuesday to advise the driver of the Ford had died from injuries related to the crash. She was pronounced dead on May 15 at St. Rose Dominican Hospital, Siena campus.
The crash marks the 52nd traffic-related fatality in Metro’s jurisdiction this year and remains under investigation.
