Police said a 27-year-old woman was accused of driving under the influence after a fatal crash Thursday night in the Spring Valley area left a man dead.
The Metropolitan Police Department said in a news release that the crash occurred just after 9:30 p.m. near South Decatur Boulevard and Spring Mountain Road.
Evidence at the scene, witness statements and surveillance video indicated that a 2013 Toyota RAV4 struck a pedestrian who was outside of a marked or implied crosswalk.
The front of the Toyota struck the pedestrian, projecting him forward onto the roadway, where he was subsequently run over by the vehicle.
The 35-year-old pedestrian was pronounced dead at the scene.
The release noted that the driver of the RAV4, identified as Victoria Truong, 27, remained at the scene and displayed signs of impairment.
Truong was later arrested for DUI-related charges, police said.
