
Chelsea Gray hit a jumper with 3.6 seconds remaining, and the Las Vegas Aces spoiled the Atlanta Dream’s home opener with an 85-84 victory on Sunday at State Farm Arena.
Gray finished with 21 points, six assists and five rebounds for the Aces (4-1), who won their fourth straight after a 33-point loss to Phoenix in the season opener.
A’ja Wilson had 20 points and passed Aces coach Becky Hammon for 19th place on the WNBA’s all-time scoring list. Chennedy Carter added 20 points off the bench for the Aces, who led by as many as 19 points and were up 81-64 early in the fourth quarter before Atlanta (2-1) rallied.
Madina Okot had back-to-back buckets, and Te-Hina Paopao’s 3-pointer capped a 16-0 run that brought the Dream within 81-80 with 2:14 remaining. Jordin Canada’s driving layup with 36.5 seconds to play put Atlanta on top 84-83.
Allisha Gray led the Dream (2-1) with 25 points, and Paopao added 19 points.
Atlanta played without three-time all-star Rhyne Howard (concussion protocol).
The Aces next play Saturday when they host the Los Angeles Sparks and will raise their 2025 championship banner at Michelob Ultra Arena.
