The Nevada System of Higher Education has named Jason Frierson as vice chancellor of government relations. In this role, he will provide executive-level strategic direction and coordination of systemwide government relations.
Frierson brings nearly two decades of public service and legislative affairs experience at the local, state, and federal levels. He served five terms in the Nevada State Assembly, including three as speaker.
Frierson also served as United States attorney for the District of Nevada, leading a team of more than 100 prosecutors and staff professionals handling federal criminal, civil, and appellate cases.
Most recently, he was principal and counsel at Cornerstone Government Affairs, representing education, healthcare, technology, and economic development clients through the 2025 legislative session.
“Strong relationships with state and federal partners are essential to advancing the mission of our institutions,” said Board of Regents Chair Byron Brooks. “Jason Frierson’s experience in public service and his ability to bring people together will serve the Nevada System of Higher Education well.”
